Vibe the Light: a disco for young people and carers in Kilsyth

A disco can mean an evening on the dance floor, but that is not the only way to take part in Vibe the Light. Magic Minds is bringing the event to Japara Living and Learning Centre in Kilsyth on Saturday 10 October, with activities and a chill-out space alongside the music.

There are two sessions: one for children aged 8–12, followed by an evening session for young people aged 13–17. Parents and carers are part of the event, with their own ticket category.

Magic Minds describes Vibe the Light as an inclusive event, particularly for young people who find social connection difficult. Its listing makes clear that attendees can dance, explore the activities or take a break, without an expectation to join in with everything.

For parents and carers, it is also an opportunity to spend the evening alongside their young person and meet other families. The format gives families something concrete to discuss before booking: the age group, the length of the session and the option of stepping away from the dancing.

The venue is Japara Living and Learning Centre, 54–58 Durham Road, Kilsyth. Times are local Melbourne time (AEDT).
