Two Useful Local Updates
Could You Help Bring Maroondah Carols To Life?
Maroondah Carols returns to Town Park in Croydon on Saturday 5 December, and Council is looking for local people and businesses to help make it happen.
Expressions of interest are open for performers, food vendors, Christmas market stallholders and event sponsors.
The free community event has been running for more than 25 years and attracts over 7,000 people. Expressions of interest close at 5pm on Friday 31 July 2026.
New Energy Standards Are Coming For Victorian Rentals
Renting out, or renting, a home in Maroondah? New energy-efficiency standards begin in stages from March 2027.
The changes cover heating, cooling, hot water, showerheads, ceiling insulation and draughtproofing. They do not require every rental property to be upgraded immediately. Different requirements are triggered when a new rental agreement begins, an agreement becomes month-to-month, or certain systems fail and cannot be repaired.
Rental providers can start checking their properties and planning ahead. Renters should understand which standards apply when beginning or changing an agreement.

Help plant 4,000 indigenous plants beside Mullum Mullum Creek. Places are limited, parking will be tight, and Council recommends walking or cycling where possible. Bring gardening gloves, drinking water and closed-toe footwear.
