Community · Ringwood North and Park Orchards
The Lions skin-check van is coming to Ringwood North on Saturday 7 November 2026, with limited free appointments still available when checked on 21 October. The Park Orchards visit on Sunday 8 November is already booked out.
The Lions Skin Check and Awareness Unit.
If a skin check is something you have been meaning to organise, there is a local opportunity coming up. The Lions Club of Park Orchards is hosting the Skin Check and Awareness Unit for two days, bringing the volunteer-run service to North Ringwood Shops and Domeney Reserve.
The service is free, but appointments are essential. Ringwood North's booking page still had a small number of appointments across several late-morning and afternoon sessions when The Maroondah Exchange checked. Availability is limited, so use the booking page to see what remains.
WHAT THE SERVICE DOES
A check, with a next step if something needs attention
The organiser describes a service run by trained, certified and professionally supervised volunteers. They check for suspicious spots or skin lesions and provide a referral to your GP if something needs further attention. The unit also offers information about skin care and checking your own skin.
What happens after the screening?
The van is not a medical clinic and does not provide a diagnosis or treatment. A referral means a spot needs further medical assessment; it does not mean cancer has been diagnosed.
The unit is part of the Lions V Districts Cancer Foundation's skin-check and awareness project, which brings free checks to communities across Victoria and southern New South Wales. Locally, the Park Orchards club is organising the two visits.

If you are worried about a spot, don't wait for the van
Cancer Council Australia advises getting to know your skin and seeing your doctor if you notice a new spot or a change in an existing one. If something is worrying you now, make an appointment with your GP rather than waiting for November or for a free screening place to open up.
You can read Cancer Council's advice on checking for signs of skin cancer. For the Lions visit, the next step is to check the Ringwood North booking page and choose an available appointment.
Booking availability checked 21 October 2026. Event details: Lions Club of Park Orchards and the two TryBooking listings.
