Dorset Golf changes booking rules as local courses hit record attendance

From Tuesday 1 September, the person making a Dorset Golf booking must be one of the players, and one person can book no more than four players. Council's 2025/26 golf report says Dorset and Ringwood recorded their highest annual attendance since records began in 1993, with peak-period demand sometimes exceeding available tee times.

If one person immediately comes to mind—the neighbour, coach, committee member or quiet helper who keeps turning up—this is your opportunity to make sure their contribution is seen. The Bill Wilkins Volunteer Award is open to people who volunteer in Maroondah, even if they live elsewhere, and nominations close Sunday 4 October.

Meet the 41 local businesses shortlisted for Maroondah’s 2026 awards

Maroondah Council has named 41 finalists across eight categories in its 2026 Business Excellence Awards. The list ranges from arts, education and health businesses to manufacturers, not-for-profits, hospitality venues and trades. Winners are due to be announced at the gala dinner on Thursday 17 September.

Wyreena seeks a new operator for the Conservatory Cafe

Maroondah City Council is seeking expressions of interest from experienced caterers or cafe operators for the rebuilt Conservatory Cafe at Wyreena Community Arts Centre. Applications close at 11pm on Sunday 6 September 2026.

The free Maroondah Seniors Register offers older residents a fortnightly or monthly call from a volunteer for social connection and a safe-and-well check. It is not an emergency or medical monitoring service, but it may suit someone who would value a regular local check-in.
